At Blue Hills Ranch, we ensure the health and well-being of our diverse animal residents through dedicated veterinary care. A veterinarian specialized in exotic animals visits the sanctuary monthly to perform routine health check-ups on all animals, from giraffes to otters. Additionally, this specialist is available for daily consultations to address any immediate health concerns, ensuring that our animals receive the best possible care at all times.
GIRAFFE CONFERENCES
Blue Hills Ranch staff are committed to continuous learning and improvement in animal care. A team travels to Colorado to participate in specialized giraffe training at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. This training equips our staff with advanced knowledge and techniques in giraffe management and care, which they bring back to enhance the well-being of our giraffes at the sanctuary. This initiative is part of our ongoing effort to provide the highest standard of care for all of our resident animals.
NUTRITION
At Blue Hills Ranch, our ongoing nutrition goals focus on ensuring all of our animals receive balanced and species-appropriate diets that support their health and well-being. We prioritize sourcing high-quality, natural foods and regularly consult with our exotic species veterinarian to tailor nutrition plans for each animal. This includes providing a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and specialized feed, as well as monitoring dietary intake to meet the specific needs of animals like giraffes, otters and kangaroos. Our commitment to excellent nutrition helps maintain the vitality and longevity of our diverse wildlife population.
